About Reflexology

Tamsin Marshall Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy, suitable for all ages. It is based on the principle that there are areas on the feet and hands relating to all glands, organs and parts of the body..

By applying pressure to these reflex points energy is encouraged to flow freely along the energy zones throughout the body, inducing relaxation and restoring balance to organs and glands.

Reflexology is recognised by the NHS and an increasing number of GPs and hospices are referring their patients to this form of treatment.

History of Reflexology
Reflexology dates back to ancient Egypt as evidenced by inscriptions found in the physician's tomb in Egypt. A variety of different forms of working the feet to effect health have been used all over the ancient and modern world.

In 1913 Dr William Fitzgerald introduced Reflexology to the West as 'Zone Therapy'. He noted that reflexes on the feet and hands were linked to other parts of the body within the same zone.

In 1930 Eunice Ingham further observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body. This is now known as Reflexology.
