Through specific maternity reflexology training, i aim to help balance and harmonise through reflexology, helping to prepare the body and mind for birth so that it is both a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

What is maternity reflexology?
Maternity Reflexology is the use of specific techniques using fingers and thumbs on the feet, aiming to nurture both mother (and baby) on a physical, emotional and spiritual level – pre-conceptually, throughout pregnancy, the birth itself and during the post-natal period. Both men and women may benefit from the balancing effects of Reflexology.

How can reflexology assist during pregnancy?
'Research studies have demonstrated that those receiving regular Reflexology treatments during pregnancy have better pregnancies and have shorter birthing with less intervention.' [1]

Reflexology is safe and supportive therapy. During pregnancy, a woman's body goes through drastic physical changes, including abundant emotional and hormonal changes. In some cases, pregnancy can cause fatigue, fluid retention, nausea, headaches, backache and other debilitating conditions. Reflexology may naturally and simply ease some of the discomforts associated with pregnancy.

Can reflexology help during the birth?
Many women seek the help of a Reflexologist if they pass over their due dates and want to avoid a hospital induction. I will work certain points on the feet to gently relax the body with the aim of encouraging the body to naturally move into labour.
